To provide greater control over visual components it would be useful to expose some of the more obvious style related elements as component properties, like:

• background color
• text color
• selected text color
• selected background color
• font bold/italic/underline etc

This may go against the grain for CSS purists but it does provide a much simpler environment for software developers.
