I believe it would be a great feature if imagemap areas could support the style attribute and some (if not all) of the mouse events like mouseover,mousein and mouseout.

This feature would provide developers with the ability to buid applications that could display marker points on images and link them with some user defined data.

For exmaple, assume that a dentist wants to apply some markers with notes on her patient's x-ray storing the exact points of treatment in the patient's record, or an event organizer wants to mark the location of an event in a photo of the area (much like the google map markers).
