formula editing adds arbitrary cell references

      when editing (F2) a formula using the arrow keys, from time to time cell references are added into the existing formula, making it difficult/impossible to use

      in excel F2 can be pressed while editing a cell to toggle either
      cell selection with arrow keys
      or moving the cursor in the formula text

      not both at once in an unpredictable way
